dearest disaster

dearest disaster,

who knew such a pretty face

could write poetry?

she will build you up

just to watch herself fall

the words on the page

will tell you more

than she’d like to admit.

it terrifies her,

how the facade she’s created

is considered her finest work of art.

it’s a permanently plastered smile;

you may find that it is broken

if you look at her for too long.

tears shouldn't unfold stories.

the menacing secrets and neglected promises

you never dared to share.

you’re making pain look awfully pretty,

beautiful disaster,

please do not destroy everything.

yours truly,

impending weightless doom
